ADVANCED LEARNING TECHNIQUES (ALT )
The Truth is that although "Advanced
Learning Techniques" (ALT) do embrace many
learning technologies that have emerged during the last two centuries,
most of these learning methods go back millennia, and were used
by Ancient Romans and Greeks as well as during the Middle Ages.
ALT
are taught in all Academy of the 3rd Millennium
courses, that is, in every area of Learning, namely: Assimilation,
Retention, Thinking, Creativity and Action. See below
for more details on these areas.

More About 'Advanced Learning Techniques'
"Advanced Learning Techniques" (ALT)
is the name given to the body of knowledge taught by The Academy
of
the 3rd Millennium, a multiplicity of learning skills
and psychological techniques all of which make it possible to
access the predominantly untapped resources of the mind and take
it to a level of peak performance. The skills are easily learnt,
and, once acquired, will benefit that person for the rest
of their life. Over a series of five self-improvement courses
the Academy teaches all of the skills necessary for totally efficient
learning and mental creativity. This 5-part programme follows
the separate stages of the Learning and Action process:
(A) ASSIMILATION: How to manage the INTAKE of information.
This stage of the programme concentrates above all on reading,
as this is the main channel for the intake of information and
knowledge.
(B) RETRIEVAL: How to RETAIN information that has
been assimilated. The main focus of this stage of the programme
is memory and the closely related skill of mind-charting, one
of the more recent learning discoveries.
(C) EXPLORATION: How to SEARCH the mind's uncharted
territory. This stage of the programme demonstrates the power
of hypnosis in the exploration of the deeper recesses of the
mind, ordinarily inaccessible to normal memory.
(D) ACTION: Then the programme demonstrates how the
new wo/man can put all these skills to use by applying them in
his/her own life and following plans of action.
(E) SELF-KNOWLEDGE: Finally, the last module of the
programme shows how the application of all these new techniques
can lead to a deeper Knowledge of Self.
"Advanced Learning Techniques" only
emerged as a "whole" body of learning in the twentieth
century, though certain of the skills that it comprises have
been known for several millennia. Key proponents of several aspects
of the Advanced Learning Techniques over the past
century are:
Walter Pitkin : Who wrote the first ever book
on Speed-Reading in 1929.
Harry Lorayne : Who wrote the most ground-breaking
text on mental training this century - 'Instant Mind Power'
(as well as many other works)
Tony Buzan : All-round mind guru, whose recent
'Mind-Map Book' has caused a revolution with its notion of
Radiant Thinking.
Lee Pulos : The hypnotist of self-improvement,
who has enabled people to achieve their goals through his self-hypnosis
programmes.
Shakti Gawain : Who has taught a sceptical
modern age the power of "Creative Visualization"
and Anthony Robbins : The leader of the Human
Potential movement, whose developments in Neuro-Associative
Conditioning and Neuro-Linguistic Programming ('Awaken the
Giant Within') have overhauled Practical Psychology.
These only represent a handful out of the hundreds
of pioneers who deserve a mention here, human beings who have
worked at improving man's lot by improving the knowledge s/he
has of the nature and workings of the mind. The Academy of
the 3rd Millennium synthesizes the best techniques
that have been discovered and developed over the past three millennia
for attaining peak mental performance, but in particular those
deve- loped over the last two centuries. In fact, this five part
pro- gramme is a guide to the interior of the human mind, and
for that reason it was originally called by Dr. Oersted a "Manual
of Inter-ContiMental Travel". Never before have we known
so much about how the mind functions, though we are only at the
beginning of brand new avenues of discovery that lead further.
